Scratch Built tuned pipe header clamp

Saw one of these being sold by a fellow boater and thought it was a great idea. It took a while and probably doesn't look as pretty as the one being sold, but sure works good. I used a lathe and a mill to do most of the work with some hand tools too. Not technically hard, just time consuming without a CNC machine. If you have any questions on building your own pipe clamp feel free to contact me at martysrcboats.com

This shows the stock piece of aluminum being turned down in the lathe. The brand of tuned pipe will dictate the overall diameter of the clamp. Click on the picture to the left for a bigger view.

This is showing the strap holder keeper being milled into the clamp. Click on the picture to the left for a bigger view.

This shows the crimp slot and clamp bolt counter bore cut into the clamp. Click on the picture to the left for a bigger view.

This is the installed clamp. Now it's easier to see how this thing works. Click on the picture to the left for a bigger view.

Slightly different view. Now I'll take it off and polish it nicely. Click on the picture to the left for a bigger view.

I'm still learning this mill and lathe thing, but if you have any specific questions you think I might be able to answer then please email me here manross@martysrcboats.com
